Buyer's Inspiration and Local Creativity

Tourism has given a new colour to local handicraft production. Other than enjoying the elegance of nature and culture of Bali, many visitors also search, sourcing for the richness of local handicraft. This condition drives local craftsmen to make more and more items, with a wholesale price, redesign and give new functionality. As a result, craftsmen become more creative and add a new value to unused materials at large. Field of handicrafts includes local tradition, aesthetics and emotion. Craftsmen creatively and innovatively continue to manifest their talent that has been inherited over time. Here sprawls the bridge connecting the past and the future. Old items can be enjoyed in modern perspective, presented in a stylish look or even become a costly antique when it is no longer in use. A water jug was used to contain drinking water or fresh water taken from a well nearby. Now, the jug is refilled with mineral water in keeping with the people's need to get more hygienic water. In that manner water jug represents a classical image, while mineral water conveys the demand of modern living.

In addition, kitchen ware today also welcomes a number of new items like bowl, dish, spoon, soup spoon or even fork stylishly made from coconut trunk. This material provides both durability and aesthetic motif on every single piece that could not be found at other materials. Similarly, interior design harvests a myriad of benefits from this advancement. A white water shrimp trap made from small and delicate bamboo slices, for instance, has been well re-designed to make a nice lampshade, artistic vase or even mannequin to display cloth. A variety of materials for craftsmen have been available. Now, it depends very much on their creativity. Dry banana sheath, for instance, has covered thousands of tissue boxes, photo album and beautified artistic furniture (Chairs, Sofas etc.).

Inspired by designs from buyers, natural creativity of local craftsmen increasingly grows rich in keeping with time. In essence, innovation and creativity in improving product and enriching the product category have become buzzwords in the global markets to fulfill the taste and demand of customers. In order to fulfill all the demands, we are here to give all the services you need.

The Jakarta Post , Jakarta | Fri, 10/16/2009 10:42 AM | People Courtesy of Waspada Online The criticism she has received for “misrepresenting” her home province of Aceh has failed to discourage newly crowned Putri Indonesia 2009 Qory Sandioriva. Qory, the first woman representing the strongly Islamic region of Aceh to win the title, made no apology for publicly rejecting the jilbab or Muslim headscarf during the pageant’s final night in Jakarta, playing it down as a “misunderstanding”. “Perhaps it was a mistake to make such a statement, but honestly I have never worn a jilbab all my life,” the 18-year-old French literature student from the University of Indonesia told Waspada Online during a visit to Medan, North Sumatra, a few days after her win. Her responses to the judges’ questions have upset many people, particularly religious leaders in her home province. In the contest’s final stage, she was asked why she was not wearing a headscarf like previous contestan

Army: Gunmen kill Indonesia soldier in Papua

Associated Press, Jayapura | Thu, 07/21/2011 6:47 PM An army officer says unidentified gunmen have ambushed Indonesia soldiers and killed one of them in the easternmost province of Papua. The chief army officer in Papua says soldiers are still searching for the gunmen. Maj. Gen. Erfi Triassunu said the ambush Thursday morning happened outside a village in the hilly district of Puncak Jaya. Triassunu said the victim was a first private killed by a shot to his head. No information was available on the other soldiers. The attack occurred one day after a military tribunal indicted three low-ranking soldiers for killing a civilian in Puncak Jaya last year. Papua is a former Dutch colony incorporated into Indonesia in 1969 after a U.N.-sponsored ballot. A small, poorly armed separatist movement has battled for independence ever since.
