Noordin M Top arrested: Al Jazeera

The Jakarta Post , Jakarta | Fri, 08/07/2009 10:34 PM | National Terrorist Noordin M Top was arrested Friday by police, Kompas.com quoted Al Jazeera . "Officially the police are still denying that they have captured Noordin Top in central Java, but a very reliable source on the ground have told us they captured a man very likely to be Noordin Top,” Step Vaessen, Al Jazeera's correspondent, reported. Noordin allegedly masterminded the recent JW Marriott and Ritz-Carlton hotels bomb blasts. The blasts killed nine people and injured more than 50.

Police exchange gunfire with militants

The Associated Press , Jakarta | Sat, 08/08/2009 1:22 AM | National Police hunting for an alleged terror leader suspected of masterminding last month's bombings at two Jakarta hotels surrounded a house in central Indonesia on Friday and were exchanging gunfire with militants loyal to him inside, police and a witness said. Noordin Mohammad Top is suspected in all of Indonesia's major terror attacks, including the suicide bombings at the J.W. Marriott and Ritz-Carlton hotels and blasts on the resort island of Bali in 2002. Police spokesman Nanan Sukarna said a gunfight was taking place in a village in Temanggung district in central Java. He said "three or four" militants belonging to Noordin's group were believed to be inside. Sukarna declined to comment on local media reports that Noordin also was in the house. Police threw rocks at suspected militants’ hideout

Suherdjoko , The Jakarta Post , Temanggung | Sat, 08/08/2009 2:43 AM | National Anti-terror police forces surrounded a house in Temanggung, Central Java, believed to be the hideout of fugitive terror suspect Noordin M. Top, Saturday early morning. The police forces initially fired gunshots at the house at Beji village, Kedu sub-district, but no response from inside, and then, they threw rocks at the house from all corners, causing the house’s roof falling. But still, no one came out from the house. The police believed Noordin, with one or two of his men were inside the house, which belongs to Muzaeri. Hundreds of locals flocked to the area and witnessed the police's operation from a distance, from a tobacco plantation nearby. Police sources said that the police came to the house based on information collected from a number of people they arrested earlier on Friday. The police arrested Wawan Setiawan at Tanjungsari village, Tlogomulya s
